The effect of palm oil on cancer event has not been studied properly. Some research suggests palm oil could lead to cancer risk as a result of acrylamide (a compound possibly linked to most cancers risk) produced by means of glycerol (an alcohol) breakdown when palm oil is heated to larger than its smoke point, specially when used as a cooking oil.
